Photograph Red Deer in the autumn rut with wildlife photographer Paul Miguel and capture striking images of the U.K.s largest land mammal.
This red deer photography workshop takes place in the magnificent grounds of Studley Royal in North Yorkshire. During October, the deep sound of roaring deer stags reverberates around the trees as the annual rut gets under way. During this time rival males compete for females, sometimes resulting in full blown batles with clashing antlers. This is one of nature's most magnificent events - a display of true power and might! At Studey, we are well place to witness this exciting wildlife behaviour. The surroundings of the deer park are very natural, and using the changing colours of the mature trees we will compose pleasing portraits of red, sika and fallow deer.
Deer often frequent the same feeding grounds and use regular tracks so we will approach the animals on foot. By this method the animals will become familiar with us, rather than being surprised suddenly. We will photograph individual animals and herds: tuition will be given on exposure control, composition and focussing technique. We may also have the opportunity to try some creative action techniques.
We will break for lunch at Studley Royal's cafe overlooking the beautiful lake where we can review and discuss our deer images. On days when the light is good, there will also be the added option of staying later into the evening - at no extra cost. This can often provide truly magical lighting.
Further feedback will be given after the course via email. |
