Book a Wharfedale landscape photography course with Paul Miguel and capture Yorkshire's autumn splendour.
Wharfedale is a varied Yorkshire dale; ideal for landscape photography. The River Wharfe snakes its way along the valley floor, cutting through limestone scars and plunging over rocky steps. Above Burnsall, the surrounding fells are laced with limestone walls, making the perfect backdrop to photograph this classic Yorkshire village. Down by the Strid, beech trees provide colourful compositions along the river and beautiful woodland scenes.
After an introduction over coffee, we will set out to visit three locations during the day, working with the weather to make the most of each location. Brighter conditions are ideal for wider landscape shots and this will give us the opportunity to look at composition, lighting and how to use filters to effectively. More overcast weather is suitable for woodland scenes and waterfalls: again we will pay great attention to composition; we will also experiment with varying shutter speeds for moving water and look at how the histogram can be a useful tool. Tuition will be given on aperture and shutter speed combinations; composition; focussing - and more... By the end of the day you will have a much better understanding of how to use your camera settings and how to approach different landscape scenes.
All levels of ability are welcome: less experienced photogaphers will benefit from using semi-automatic modes, whilst those confident with their camera can use more manual settings. A tripod is also particularly useful on these workshops; not only will it keep your pictures sharp but it is also makes composing and reviewing images much easier. If you don't have a tripod, one can be provided. |
