Photograph intimate woodland scenes in an English bluebell wood with nature photographer Paul Miguel.
This ancient bluebell wood is the pefect setting for a spring nature photography course. During May, the wild bluebells create a sea of blue, interspersed with red campion and yellow archangel, making for colourful woodland scenes. Orange tip butterflies flutter across the grassy rides, whilst buzzing bees dart around wild flowers.
With such a rich environment we will look at a range of nature photography, from wider scenes to close ups of the many flowers on the woodland floor. We will also look to capture insects including butterflies, bees and dragonflies; here, techniques of exposure combinations are particularly useful for photographing these macro subjects. We'll also look at how the histogram can be a useful tool in producing well exposed photos. Tuition will be given on aperture and shutter speeds, ISO rating, composition; focussing - and more... After spending the day in this spring woodland you will have a much better understanding of camera settings and how to approach woodland scenes and close up photography.
All levels of photographic ability are welcome: those newer to photography will benefit from the use of semi-automatic modes, whilst more experienced photographers can use manual settings. A tripod is particularly handy on these workshops; it will ensure pin sharp pictures - and also make composing and reviewing photos much easier. If you don't own a tripod, one can be provided. |
