Book a beginners landscape photography course and get the most out of your camera with professional photographer Paul Miguel. After a half day workshop you will no longer be taking snaps, but creating expert landscape photographs.
Ilkley Moor provides the ideal scenery for those learning the art of landscape photography. The Yorkshire moors reflect the seasons beautifully: winter brings hard frosts, long shadows and muted tones to twilight skies whilst late summer turns the heather tops into a colourful carpet of purple. The distinctive Cow and Calf rocks stand starkly against the skyline looking over the town of Ilkley that nestles in the valley below.
These half day courses last between four and five hours, with a maximum of just 5 people. Starting later in the day we will photograph the moor in good light before capturing sunset and then moving on to twilight photography. We will look at a range of techniques - these will include: using different lenses or zooming to frame your photo; changing viewpoint to create different compositions; using semi-automatic modes or manual; understanding ISO ratings. We will also look at how to use the light in the best way; sunny weather will be ideal for wide shots on the moor whilst more overcast conditions are suitable for woodland images at Hebers Ghyll. We will also look at the histogram as a useful guide to understanding exposure.
A tripod is also particularly useful on these workshops; not only will it keep your pictures sharp but it is also makes composing and reviewing images much easier. If you don't have a tripod, then one can be provided. Although this course is aimed at beginners, more experienced photographers can benefit from the iconic location of Ilkley Moor and the specific viewpoints chosen for our photography. |
